  • Note*: Catharine was probably born in Pennsylvania, between her family's arrival at Philadelphia in September 1739 and their settling in Berks County by 1741.

    A "Catharine" is listed as a daughter of John Wolfart in the 1751 Lancaster Orphans Court record appointing guardians for his four minor children. Also a "Catharine" is also among the six children named in her brother George's 1752 petition to the Berks County Orphan's Court requesting permission to sell their father's plantation. Then in 1809 she is named as "sister Catharine Lesher", along with all the other five siblings, in the 1809 will of her brother Christopher.4,1,5

  • Note: An inventory was made of Catharine Lesher's personal estate at the time of her death, submitted 11 Aug 1815, totaling $726.72. Of that, $320 was a £100 bond and a debt from Henry Shell, and $93 in debts of her sons David and George. The document is in her husband's Berks Co. Estates file.6
  • Note: This Catharine (Wolfart) Lesher is not to be confused with Catherine Lesher of Richnond Twp., Berks Co., who died before 24 May 1815, the date on which letters of administration were granted to her son Michael Lesher.7
