Notes

  • Note*: There are various documents related to the name Michael Wolfart in this place and time, but it is difficult to say with confidence that there was only one Michael Wolfart.

Seven children baptized at Host Reformed, Altalaha Lutheran and Christ Lutheral were probably his. (Jacob 1754, Johannes 1762, Anna Barbara 1763, Christoph 1765, Catharina 1768, Christina 1776, Elisabeth 1778.)

The will abstracted below presents a problem: Although the Michael Wolfart is of Rehrersburg, he would have been very old, about 83, and everything is left to a wife of a different name, Catharine (possibly a second marriage?), and nothing is left to any children. And although the will mentions real estate, no deeds are indexed for Michael Wolfart, nor indexed for Sommer at Tulpehochen.

A Catharine Wolfart of Rehrersburg died intestate in January 1837 (Berks. Co. Estates). Nothing was found to link her to Michael. She owned a house; but the deeds were not found.
  • Note: Michael appears in one baptism record at Altalaha Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rehrersburg, Berks County:

1781 Michael Wolfart & Elisabetha sponsor Michael son of Henrich Au & Christina4
  • Note: On 21 Feb 1815 in Berks County, letter testamentray on will of Michael Wolfart late of Rehrersburg were granted to Jost Hey.5
  • Note: Will of Michael Wolfart of Rehrersburg in Co. of Berks, written 31 Jan 1811, proved 21 Feb 1815, orders that his personal property be left in the hands of his wife Catharine as long as she lives, and that sole right and title of all property real and personal be vested in his wife Catharine. Executor wife Catharine. Witnesses Samuel Kruch, Robert Auchmutz.
Recorded Berks Co. Wills Vol. D2, p. 150.

Per the 29 Feb 1816 account, the assets of £36.11.2 1/2 were all paid out for debts and expenses.6
  • Note: Catharine Wolfart died intestate Jan 1837. Administrator bond 3 Apr 1837, Adam Schoener. Petition to sell real estate
approved 11 Aug 1837 for house and lot in town of Rehersburg 60' x 260'; sold Sept 1837 $106. Balance to be distributed $52.99 against claims of $111.7
