Notes
- Note*: Regarding the year of the marriage, 1762 versus 1764:
1) The year on the Haddonfield MM marriage certificate is clearly "one thousand seven hundred & sixty four".
2) Craig & Meldrum abstracted the marriage certificate year as 1762.
3) Craig, citing Ann Whitall's Diary, as transcribed in Stewart's "Notes on Old Gloucester County" has the year as 1762.8,9,10 - Note: Taxed for one dog in Deptford Township, Gloucester Co., N.J., in 1773.11
- Note: Member of Society of Friends, Woodbury Monthly Meeting:
1) 2nd mo 15 day 1785, elder for Woodbury
2) 8th mo 11 day 1792, James Cooper appointed overseer of the Woodbury Monthly Meeting in the room of our Friend James Whitall, Jr.12 - Note: Regarding the list of children:
Woodbury MM has the same list as Haddonfield MM, plus Jean and Ann.
Asa Matlack has the same list as Haddonfield MM, less Abraham, and plus Jane who presumably is the same person as Jean.13,14,15 - Note: Will of James Whiteall Jr. of Deptford Twp, Gloucester Co., N.J., written 18 Feb 1796, proved 12 April 1796. Names wife Rebecca, sons Zathu, James, William, George, and children Deborah, Rebecca & Jean. Youngest not yet 18. Plantation; home and lots in Woodbury. Inventory 22 Mar 1796, £1,351.3.2 1/2. See NJA 38:410.

Compiler's notes: 1) Content includes children of James & Ann (Cooper) Whitall, of James & Hannah (Whitall) Matlack, of Robert & Elizabeth (Henry) Kennedy, and of James & Elizabeth (Kennedy) Matlack. 2) The bottom halves of the first two pages are switched, presumably during repair of breaks across fold lines. 3) Pages are all in same hand, and the latest date is 1828, so this appears to be a compilation of other records, made seventy plus years after the births of the Whitall children.
