  • Note*: "Nathaniel Pettit was named a judge of the Court of Common Pleas for Sussex County, New Jersey, in 1766. In 1776, he raised a [500 man] loyalist unit, in co-operation with Col. Joseph Barton. He served three years in the Legislative Assembly of New Jersey, and 1792-1796 in that of Upper Canada."1
